Haifa is one of the major cities in Israel, lies on the northern reaches of Israel Mediterranean shore. It is the center of business, industry and cultural life of the north. The city is divided in 2 parts, the lower city, spread out along the shore and the upper city, sitting on the Carmel's peak and slopes.
Parking
There is no particular problem with finding a parking place in Haifa. Most of the
curbstones in the main roads are marked in blue and white which means that it is
allowed to park only with pay-and-display vouchers that can be acquired via street
machines.
The use of parking meters is also quite common. You can always look for grey curbstones nearby where there are no parking restrictions.
There is a sign next to each blue and white zone that indicates the hours and days to which the parking regulations apply.
There are a lot of parking lots spread out in the city. Prices differ between day/night rate.
Road conditions
Haifa is divided into two parts, and since one part is located on the Carmel's peak,
the road that leads there from the lower city is very steep.
For any
car rental in Haifa, it is best to know that Road no. 4 is the main road
that connects the city with Tel Aviv from the South and Akko (Acre) and Rosh HaNikra
in the north. Road no. 4 circles Haifa shore line and branching out from it are
several roads leading toward the Carmel area.
Please remember to drive on the right and pass on the left.
